Drone Detection

The AirPlate Drone Detection Service tells you when a drone flies over your site. Sensors pick up the signals drones send, and the AirPlate app shows each drone on a map, often with where its pilot is. You get an alert when a drone enters one of your alarm zones, and every detected flight is kept in a log.

It is built for critical infrastructure, public safety and large events. EU regulation requires Remote ID on drones over 250 grams: every AirDetect sensor detects those drones, and some also detect older DJI drones without Remote ID.

Subscribe to the service

AirPlate provides the sensor data for your site. Where our network already reaches you, you go live without any installation; where it does not, we provide the hardware at no extra cost. See the Drone Detection Service.

Detect

Sensors pick up the Remote ID broadcasts of drones in range, and some also the DJI DroneID signal of older DJI drones. Detection is passive: the pilot gets no sign of it.

Locate

The app shows the drone on the map and, often from the very first detection, where the pilot is.

Alert and log

You get SMS and email alerts* when a drone enters your monitored airspace, and every flight is kept in the Intrusion Log.

* SMS and email alerts, including the weekly summary email, need an active subscription to the AirPlate cloud platform.

  • Remote ID drones: every AirDetect sensor picks up the Bluetooth and Wi-Fi Beacon broadcasts of drones with Remote ID, such as new commercially sold EU drones over 250 grams (for example DJI, Autel and BlueMark).
  • Older DJI drones: the AirDetect Pro and AirDetect Pro Long Range also pick up the DJI DroneID radio signal of older DJI drones (DJI Gen 2 and 3), such as the DJI Mini 2, DJI Mini 3 Pro and DJI Air 2S. Newer DJI models (such as the DJI Mini 4 Pro) and other brands without Remote ID are not detected this way.

Four sensors, all reporting to the same AirPlate app. The fixed sensors sit on a mast or roof and run 24/7; the AirDetect Go goes with you.

The four side by side:

Sensor Type Remote ID Older DJI drones Power
AirDetect Pro Long Range Fixed Up to 20 km¹ Up to 8 km¹ Power supply, SIM card included
AirDetect Long Range Fixed, 360° Up to 20 km¹ Not detected Power supply, SIM card included
AirDetect Pro Fixed Up to 6 km Up to 6 km Power supply, SIM card included
AirDetect Go Handheld Up to 4 km Not detected Battery, about 4 hours, USB-C

¹ In ideal conditions. In urban environments: 6 km for Remote ID, 5 km for older DJI drones.

Live map

Follow drones and their pilots live, with your sensors and alarm zones on the map. See Map.

Intrusion Log

Every detected flight, with its track, the drone and the pilot, to filter and export. See Intrusion Log.

Alarm zones

Draw the areas you care about. A drone detected inside one triggers an alert. See Alarm Zones.

Heatmap

See where drones fly over your site over time. See Heatmap.

  1. Get coverage: subscribe to the service, or buy or rent your own sensors. See Two ways to get it.

  2. Log in at app.airplate.dk/login. Live detections, alerts and the log of detected flights are all there.

  3. Set up your alerts: draw your alarm zones on the Alarm Zones page, and add the people who should get SMS alerts on the SMS Alerts page, choosing which alerts each of them gets.

  4. Find your way in the app: see the tour of the app and the Intrusion Log.

  • Updates: regular, automatic updates that add new scanning and logging features.
  • Support and maintenance: our team supports and maintains your system so it keeps running smoothly, and deals with any issues promptly.
